Changing It Up

Let me preface this entry with this statement: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my wedding band and never take it off. However. I watch the Rachel Zoe Project and have become slightly obsessed with the way Rach (we're on a first name basis) stacks a bunch of different style rings with her band and engagement ring (no example pictures to be found!). After a few days of searching, I finally found this and this at Banana Republic. They perfectly compliment the diamonds on my band and weren't too much of an investment that I'll feel obligated to wear them all the time. I'm also debating whether or not to buy the 'vintage goddess' collection from above.

Pretty Hippie, $95, Baroni
Glam Rocker,$165, Judith Jack (no longer available at Bloomingdale's)
Eclectic Artiste, $19.99, Target
City Chick, $95, Jill Golden
California Girl, $75, Gorjana
Vintage Goddess, $88, Ariella

Simple Summer Pasta

There are always nights that I have no idea what to make for dinner. This is my go-to dish for the summer because I can use fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden (this time tomatoes and basil were compliments of my mother-in-law's gorgeous Vermont garden). From start to finish, it only takes about 15 minutes to throw together!

Rainy Day Uniform

Rainy Day Uniform

I literally went from sweating my cherries off in shorts and flip flops to an outfit like this in a matter of hours. I can also say I am now officially addicted to Polyvore.

Cloudy Day Color

I used the recent rainy weather as an excuse to visit our local T.J. Maxx and stumbled across a hidden stack of Elum gift bags from an older collection. Usually about $5 each, I snatched a bunch for under $10. They are truly luxurious - the paper is thick enough so the bag stands on its own and the bold, colorful patterns are to die for. Their latest collection has totally inspired me to do a graphic print in our dining room AND made the gloomy weather a little more tolerable.

Five Minutes Under $5

We had planned on running over to the new neighbor's house after dinner and as we were leaving, I realized I didn't have anything to welcome them to the neighborhood. There wasn't time to cook or bake anything, so I grabbed a bunch of sunflowers that I had bought from Trader Joe's during lunch (only $4.99!), emptied an old mason jar (full of nuts and bolts), scrounged up some leftover craft paper string from my 'bag o' scraps' and clipped whatever wildflowers, hydrangeas and ferns weren't dead from my backyard garden. Considering it was pretty thrown-together, I was pretty happy with the result - and so were the neighbors (who happen to be VERY nice and are fixing up an antique farmhouse that my husband and I have been obsessing over for a while).

East Meets West

Arizona Wedding

Who has a wedding in Arizona in the middle of August? My sister does, that's who! This is what I imagine my outfit will look like - we were told to expect blistering days and chilly nights. Sadly, my real-life outfit will not include this fabulous Simone Camille bag. Sigh.
